A man charged in a warrant with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of an unlicensed cabdriver in April has been arrested, police said yesterday.
Members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force arrested Michael Quinton Taylor, 27, on Wednesday in the 1400 block of Mosander Way in O'Donnell Heights, said Detective Bobby Patton. Taylor, a resident of the 2400 block of Loyola Northway, is being held without bail at Central Booking and Intake Center, Patton said.
Damon Cooper, 34, of the 5800 block of Royal Oak Ave. in Forest Park was hacking - using his personal vehicle as an unlicensed taxicab - when he was robbed and fatally shot about 3:15 a.m. April 6, Patton said. Cooper's body was found in the 2700 block of Tivoly Ave. in Northeast Baltimore. His car was recovered later on Winston Avenue, about a mile north.
Arraignment held for teens accused of shooting student
Two Hampden--area teen-agers were arraigned yesterday in the shooting of Michael Langley, 24, an economics major at Loyola College who was critically wounded at Gator's Pub in North Baltimore after he intervened to help women being harassed, the city state's attorney's office said.
Jason Edward Hunt, 17, of the 2000 block of Druid Park Drive and John William Fishback, 16, of the 3400 block of Hickory Ave. are charged as adults with first- and second-degree attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault, use of a handgun in a crime of violence and other offenses in the incident Feb. 11.
Hunt and Fishback have been held without bail at the Baltimore City Detention Center since their arrests Feb. 13. Their trial was set for Oct. 3.
Man, 21, found wounded on street, dies in hospital
A man who was found with several gunshot wounds yesterday morning on the east side died later at Johns Hopkins Hospital, police said.
Police responded about 5:50 a.m. to a report of someone lying in the 1500 block of Homestead St. in the Coldstream-Homestead-Montebello community. Officers found Eton Tanzymore, 21, of the 1600 block of Spray Court in West Baltimore, shot in the upper torso. The victim died about a half-hour later in the Hopkins emergency room, police said.
Former teacher to sign memoir at bookstore

Man, 30, pleads guilty to child porn, drug charges
TOWSON - A 30-year-old man was sentenced to a year in jail and five years' probation yesterday for enticing teen-age boys to his home in Mays Chapel and videotaping them performing sex acts.
Michael Thompson was sentenced by Baltimore County Circuit Judge Alexander Wright Jr. after Thompson pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and possession with intent to distribute illegal drugs.
Assistant State's Attorney John Cox said Thompson was charged Aug. 10 after police raided his home on Lovett Court and found Ecstasy, cocaine, marijuana and 13 videotapes he produced of teen-age boys performing sex acts.
Summit Park Elementary rewarded for charity work
PIKESVILLE - Summit Park Elementary School has been named by the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce as winner of the 2001 Leadership Recognition Award.
The award is presented each year to an organization that has performed outstanding charity work and community service. During the past school year, pupils at Summit Park have held a canned food drive, sponsored a hat and mitten collection, held fund-raisers and collected books for the House of Ruth.
This marks the second consecutive year the school has received the award.
Relay For Life events tonight in Kingsville, Hereford
KINGSVILLE - The American Cancer Society's 2001 Relay For Life season in Central Maryland ends with overnight events starting tonight in Kingsville and Hereford.
The Relay for Life in the Kingsville area will be held at Franklinville Fields starting with the opening ceremony at 8 p.m. The closing ceremony will be at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
The event in the Hereford area will be held at Sparks Elementary School, starting with the opening ceremony at 6:30 p.m. today. The closing ceremony will be at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow. Information: 410- 787-4337.
