HORSHAM, Pa. -- The Baltimore Stars under-18 amateur team was beaten, 4-2, yesterday by Boston Olympiakos for the U.S. Amateur Soccer Association Region I championship.

A win would have sent the Stars, the under-19 state champs, to the U.S. Amateur Soccer Association's National Amateur Cup.

"All in all, it was an incredible run," said Stars coach Anthony Adams. "This was the best team we played all year, and our guys played with them."

Trailing 1-0, Kaiser Chowdhry converted on a penalty kick after Ian Rodway was taken down in the box five minutes before halftime.

The Stars, which includes 12 Baltimore-area players, tied it at 2 with 15 minutes left in the game when Matt Gormley served a ball toward the net, which deflected off a Boston defender and into the goal.

Olympiakos scored the game-winner with eight minutes to play and added an insurance goal with two minutes remaining.
