The brother of the man wanted in Friday's shooting outside Howard County General Hospital has been charged with aiding the suspect, who remained at large yesterday.

Larry Edwards Jr., 20, of Severn was arrested Saturday after police stopped his car in Baltimore County and found a bag filled with clothes and "a large amount" of money, police said. Police did not specify the amount.

Police charged Edwards, of the 1700 block of Richfield Drive, with being an accessory after the fact.

Police said that Friday morning, Edwards' brother, Gregory Lamont Johnson, beat his estranged girlfriend outside a Columbia school, then followed her to the hospital, where he shot her brother.

Johnson, 24, of the 5900 block of Franklin Ave. in Woodlawn, had been scheduled to appear in District Court in Catonsville for a domestic violence hearing about the same time as Friday's shooting. His estranged girlfriend, Tiffany Myatt, 22, was seeking a protective order against Johnson.

Upset about the hearing, Johnson went to Clemens Crossing Elementary School, where Myatt works, and beat her, police said.

Myatt was treated for cuts and bruises at the hospital, where her brother, Jayson Myatt, 25, arrived to check on her. Police said he was standing at the curb outside the hospital waiting for his sister to be discharged when Johnson drove up in a gold Toyota Camry, fired, and drove off.

The bullet grazed Jayson Myatt's side. He was discharged Saturday.

Johnson was last seen driving about 10:30 a.m. Friday in Owen Brown village, police said.

Police recovered the Camry in Anne Arundel County over the weekend. Police are offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to Johnson's arrest. Anyone with information is urged to call 410-313-2283.
