Tour to be offered of historic churches in Ellicott City

In celebration of its 125th anniversary, First Lutheran Evangelical Church of Ellicott City will be the start of a tour of 10 historic Ellicott City churches from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The free, self-guided tour, held in honor of Howard County's Sesquicentennial, will begin with free coffee and pastries at First Lutheran and a welcome by Senior Pastor Glenn E. Ludwig.

Participants may take the tour at their own pace. The tour route will be marked with signs. Each church will provide historical information and a tour of its facilities. Lunch will be available at Bethany United Methodist Church, 2875 Bethany Lane. Sign-up for lunch is requested by 11 a.m. on the day of the tour.

Historic churches across the county have been invited to present displays and information about their histories at First Lutheran's Fellowship Center.

Unitarian Universalist to present one-act play

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia will present a single performance of James McClure's one-act play, "Laundry and Bourbon," at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia.

The play is about three Southern women struggling with marriage and motherhood.

Friars to celebrate outdoor Mass tomorrow

The Conventual Franciscan Friars of St. Joseph Cupertino Friary, 12290 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City, will offer an outdoor Mass of Healing and Wholeness at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.

An anointing of the sick and reverence of the relic of St. Anthony of Padua will take place after Mass.

Church to sponsor seminar on spirituality

Columbia Church of Religious Science will sponsor a seminar by John Randolph Price and Jan Price, "Being Spiritually Rich and Materially Happy," from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wilde Lake Middle School, 10481 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia. The Prices originated World Healing Day, held each year since 1986 on Dec. 31.

A donation of $25 is requested. The Prices will conduct the church's Sunday Celebration service at 10 a.m. at Wilde Lake Middle School.

Strawberry fest tomorrow at Messiah Lutheran

Messiah Lutheran Church, 5600 Old Washington Road, Sykesville, will hold its 11th Strawberry Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Sykesville-Freedom District Volunteer Fire Grounds, Route 32 and Freedom Avenue.

Strawberries, homemade strawberry shortcake, games for children, face-painting, hay wagon rides, pony rides and a petting farm, as well as continuous entertainment, are planned.

Rabbi to offer lecture on living a life of love

Rabbi Martin Siegel, director of the Institute for Behavioral Health and Spirituality and rabbi emeritus of Columbia Jewish Congregation, will give a free lecture, "Learning to Live a Life of Love: Torah, Kabbalah and Healing," at 8 p.m. Thursday at Oakland Mills Interfaith Center, 5885 Robert Oliver Place, Columbia.

Admission is free. The lecture is open to people of all faiths.
