3 men sought in gas station robbery attempt

May 29, 2001

State police in Carroll County are searching for three men who participated in an attempted armed robbery at a Sykesville gas station yesterday morning.

Two men forced their way into the Shell gas station at 2816 Liberty Road about 3:15 a.m. They made noise and alerted the owner of the gas station and his family, who were at the back of the building. A family member fought with them until one of the men flashed a black handgun, according to the police report.

They fled the scene in an older model white vehicle, believed to be a midsized Dodge, that was driven by the third man. They left without getting cash or merchandise. The vehicle headed toward Baltimore County, the police report said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at 410-386-3000.
