Rain washes out state playoff games

Once again, rain washed out a number of state baseball and softball playoffs slated for yesterday.

Three state baseball championships were moved to tomorrow at Joe Cannon Stadium.

No. 15 Centennial will meet Blake for the Class 2A title at 10 a.m., and St. Michaels and Brunswick will clash for the Class 1A crown at 1 p.m.

Fourth-ranked Northeast will face Westlake for the Class 3A championship at 4 p.m., and the battle between No. 1 Arundel and No. 2 Dulaney for the Class 4A title is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Also, the third-ranked Archbishop Spalding softball team - seeking its fourth consecutive Maryland private schools crown - will play host to St. Mary's-Ryken in a semifinal matchup at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Prince George's Community College in Largo.
