258 to get diplomas Wednesday at CCC

Faye Pappalardo and R. Delaine Hobbs will present diplomas to 258 graduates of Carroll Community College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Western Maryland College in the Physical Education Learning Center.

Pappalardo, the college president, will welcome students, parents and faculty and staff members. Hobbs, chairman of the Carroll Community College board of trustees, will greet students.

The commencement address will be delivered by Michael L. Oster, president of BB&T Baltimore Metro Region. Oster has been in banking since 1974, when he began as a management trainee.

He is a member of the United Way Partnership board of directors, the Carroll County General Hospital board and foundation, and Greater Westminster Development Corp.

"As a Carroll County businessman, he speaks with great knowledge of the work world that will face our graduates," said Pappalardo. "He truly understands the importance of continuing one's education."

Recipients of the president's Academic Excellence Award and the two students chosen as members of the All-Maryland Academic Team will also be recognized.

The processional, "Pomp and Circumstance," and the recessional, "Rondeau," will be played by the Monumental Brass Quintet.
