Gavin Floyd Mount St. Joseph, baseball A senior All-American, Floyd finished off his high school career in impressive fashion. He threw a 10-inning, two-hit shut out against Calvert Hall in the first round of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference playoffs, and got the game-winning hit in the 1-0 victory, the 30th win of his career. He struck out 13 batters in taking a no-hit bid into the fifth inning. The 6-foot-5 Floyd is expected to be a first-round draft pick in the upcoming major-league baseball draft. He also homered in a 8-1 loss to St. Paul's, which ended the Gaels' season.

Mariama Gondo

Mariama Gondo Western, track The junior completed back-to-back multiple gold-medal performances. After placing first in four events at the Baltimore City Championships on May 12, Gondo went on a binge at the Class 4A North Regional meet at Hereford. She won the 100 meters in 12.1 seconds, the 200 in 25.4 and the 400 in a personal-best 57.0. Gondo also anchored a 1,600-relay squad that finished second. Gondo, an All-Baltimore City/County selection in indoor track two months ago, helped the No. 3 Doves win the 4A North title.
