Angels update

Carrying an 8-14 road record, the Angels have pitched well but find themselves only a shadow of the team that slugged 236 home runs last season. The Angels' 39 homers are tied for fourth-fewest in the league, a fact partly due to Mo Vaughn's season-ending arm injury and partly because of troubled starts by center fielder Darin Erstad and third baseman Troy Glaus, last season's AL leaders in hits and homers, respectively. Solid pitching has allowed them a break-even run differential. Closer Troy Percival is again dominant, carrying a 0.55 ERA. After seeing only six left-handed starters in their first 41 games, the Orioles see their third in four games tonight in Schoeneweis. The Angels last year captured their first season series from the Orioles since 1988 by winning four of six games at Camden Yards.
