Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Southwestern District

Drug arrests: During the past several weeks, district drug enforcement unit officers assisted Western District police in gathering information on drug-related violence on the west side. Saturday, the effort resulted in the arrests of 12 people on charges of attempting to purchase narcotics or possessing drugs, said Sgt. Timothy Devine. Officers also seized heroin, cocaine and marijuana with a combined value of $1,400, a vehicle and $500. Two of those arrested were from Winchester, Va., and two others from Baltimore County.

Southeastern District

Theft: While a woman was receiving communion Sunday at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in the 400 block of S. Chester St., a man described as "scruffy looking" stole her purse that she had left in a pew. The purse contained cash and property - all valued at $60.

Theft from vehicle: A 600-watt amplifier, two stereo speakers and a stereo receiver - all valued at nearly $900 - were stolen Sunday from a 1997 Hyundai parked in the 6100 block of Cardiff Ave.

Burglary: Power tools and accessories - all of unknown value - were stolen Sunday from a house in the 1800 block of Lancaster St. The occupant spotted the burglar as he fled through the back yard. No arrest had been made.

Northern District

Burglary: A mountain bicycle valued at more than $300 was stolen Sunday from a garage in the 2900 block of N. Charles St.

Theft from vehicle: A compact disc player and $5 - all valued at more than $140 - were stolen Sunday from a Ford Taurus parked in the 300 block of E. Highfield Road.

Stolen vehicle: A tan four-door Ford with tags GVE 691 was stolen Sunday in the 4600 block of Kenwood Ave.

Southern District

Stolen vehicle: A blue 1981 Toyota Camry with tags JJB 990 was stolen Sunday in the 1800 block of Randall St.

Stolen vehicle: A white two-door 1991 Mazda with tags HLR 912 was stolen Sunday in the 1600 block of W. Pratt St.

Baltimore County

White Marsh Precinct

Robbery try: Two gunmen attempted to rob a woman, 41, about 1:20 a.m. Sunday in the first block of Silvergate Court but fled when she cried out. The men drove off in a dark-colored 1990s four-door car with unknown tags.

Parkville Precinct

Theft: A man stole several cases of baby formula - all valued at more than $400 - Sunday from the Giant Food market in the 7900 block of Belair Road. He drove away in a four-door white car with tinted windows.

Theft: A man, 31, tried to leave the Home Depot at Perring Plaza Shopping Center in the 1900 block of E. Joppa Road on Sunday without paying for roofing material valued at more than $100. He was released after providing store security and police with identification.

Towson Precinct

Burglary: Three laptop computers and a videocassette recorder were stolen during the weekend from Software Consortium in the 100 block of West Road.

Garrison Precinct

Burglary: Someone entered a snowball stand in the 12100 block of Greenspring Valley Road overnight Saturday and stole more than $400.
