Mt. St. Mary's offers business courses at CCC

May 20, 2001

Mount St. Mary's College will offer a branch of its Accelerated Business program to students at Carroll Community College.

Business majors will be able to work toward earning a four-year bachelor of science degree from "the Mount" beginning tomorrow. The courses are open to working adults who have at least three years of full-time employment experience and have earned 30 college credits.

Professors from Mount St. Mary's will come to Carroll Community College to teach the classes there, so students won't have to leave Carroll.

Dr. Linda Martinak, assistant dean for continuing studies at Mount St. Mary's said, "This is a program geared to professionals, who bring their corporate experience to the classroom."

The courses are offered on a year-round basis every five weeks. The classes normally meet from 6 to 10 p.m. one night per week. Students may earn three college credits during each session.

The accelerated program at Mount St. Mary's was started in October 1999. Two students have already graduated from the program with eight more expected to receive their diplomas this month at St. Mary's graduation ceremonies.
