Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Southern District

Theft: A man claiming he worked for a local construction company entered Leonard Jed Co. in the 1300 block of Covington St. on Sunday and told an employee he was there to purchase an electric saw and 12 blades and to charge the $600 cost to the company's account. On Monday, Jed learned no such purchase had been authorized.

Theft from vehicle: A portable compact disc player, 20 compact discs and clothing - all valued at more than $500 - were stolen Tuesday from a 1991 Honda Accord parked in the 700 block of McHenry St.

Southeastern District

Theft: A firefighter's work gloves and an ear protection device - all valued at more than $100 - were stolen Tuesday from the city firehouse in the 5700 block of Eastern Ave.

Theft: Stereo equipment, a compact disc changer and 12 compact discs - all valued at nearly $3,000 - were stolen Tuesday from a 1992 Jeep parked in the 5300 block of Holabird Ave.

Northwestern District

Robbery: A pizza deliveryman was about to deliver food to a house in the 5500 block of Haddon Ave. about 11 p.m. Monday when a man armed with a knife robbed him of a cellular phone and cash. The property was valued at more than $100.

Burglary: A fax machine and a laptop computer were stolen overnight Monday from a house in the 3900 block of Bateman Ave.

Baltimore County

Wilkens Precinct

Carjacking/arrest: A West Baltimore man was arrested and charged with the armed carjacking Monday of an unlicensed cab driver in Catonsville. A second suspect is being sought. The victim picked up two men in the 700 block of Bethnal Road in Southwest Baltimore and drove them to Route 40 and Ingleside Avenue, then to Melvin Avenue, where he was forced out at gunpoint. Hours later, county police arrested Troy Orlando White, 29, of the 1800 block of Laurens St., and charged him with armed carjacking.

Bank robbery: An apparently unarmed man gave a teller a note demanding cash about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday and escaped from First Union National Bank in the 800 block of N. Rolling Road with an undisclosed sum.

For the record

Victim named: Shelvester Wilson, 32, of the 1000 block of St. Dunstans Road in North Baltimore, was identified by police yesterday as the man who was shot Tuesday night in the 4100 block of Eastmont Ave. and died at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. No arrest had been made and police knew of no motive for the shooting.
