Preakness Stakes

The 126th running of the Preakness Stakes takes place Saturday. Several events are planned in the days leading up to the race. Here are today's:

Flower Mart: Exotic flowers, May Pole dance, refreshments, over 50 arts and crafts vendors and free music. 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Mount Vernon Square, N. Charles at Monument streets. (Rain date: tomorrow.)

Lee's Ice Cream Banana Split Stakes: ice cream sundae-eating contest. Noon, Harborplace Amphitheater, Pratt at Light Street.

Preakness Frog Hop: Frogs compete in long-jump contest. Noon, Pulaski Monument, Patterson Park (Eastern and Linwood avenues).

Cointreau Preakness Pub: Talk to professional jockeys from Pimlico as they tend bar for charity. 5 p.m.-8 p.m., at Mother's Federal Hill Grille, 1113 S. Charles St.

Miller Lite Nites: Bands Mr. Greengenes and Intensive Care Unit play. 5 p.m.-11 p.m., Power Plant Live, Market Place (formerly the Brokerage, 35 Market Place).
