Man is fatally shot after visiting mother

May 14, 2001|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Shortly after visiting his mother early yesterday, a Northwest Baltimore man was fatally shot about a block from his home.

Antoine Eugene Johnson, 24, of the 2900 block of Woodland Ave. was shot several times in the upper body about 1 a.m. in the 4800 block of Pimlico Road at Woodland Avenue, said Detective Martin Young. He said Johnson, who lived with his girlfriend, was pronounced dead at Sinai Hospital about 30 minutes later.

Young said Johnson had visited his mother in the 3300 block of Spaulding Ave. and was walking home when he was shot.

Johnson was shot at close range and his money and jewelry left behind, Young said, leading police to believe that he was the target.
