Three wounded in Pioneer City shooting

An early morning shooting injured three young men in Severn yesterday.

The Pioneer City neighborhood, which police call one of the most violent in the county, seemed unshaken by the incident, in which three males were shot about 3 a.m. as they stood on the sidewalk in front of the rowhouses in the 1800 block of Arwell Court.

It was unclear whether they were shot from a car or were the intended targets, said Officer Charles Ravenell, an Anne Arundel County police spokesman.

Reginald Lewellyn Turner, 23, was shot in the chest and his 16-year-old brother, Raymond Charles Turner, in the leg. The brothers live in the 8500 block of Pioneer Drive, blocks from where they were shot.

Both were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Reginald Turner was listed in critical but stable condition and Raymond Turner was listed in serious but stable condition last night, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The third victim, who was not identified by police, was grazed by a bullet but was not admitted to the hospital.

Detectives were interviewing possible witnesses yesterday.
