UM graduate assistant dropped after arrest

Maryland football coach Ralph Friedgen dropped graduate assistant coach Brendan Daly from his staff after an on-campus arrest last month.

The University of Maryland campus police charged Daly, 25, with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, second-degree assault, threatening an officer and making false statements in the early hours of April 28, the same day as the football team's spring game.

Daly, who came to Maryland last year from Villanova, will remain a student pending a review by the school's Office of Judicial Programs, but he will lose the scholarship provided by the athletic department.
