Steve Cromer

Southwestern, baseball

The senior had a dominant week on the mound, striking out 32 batters in 12 innings, and giving up only one hit in wins over Northwestern and Forrest Park. Against Northwestern, Cromer struck out 16 batters, helping lead the Wildcats to a 14-1 victory. Two days later against Forest Park, Cromer tossed his third no-hitter of the season, striking out 16 in a 6-1 win. He was no slouch at the plate either, hitting three doubles and picking up five RBIs in the two games. Cromer has yet to allow an earned run this season, going 6-1.

Meghan Cowen

Archbishop Spalding, softball

Cowen won three games, throwing two-hitters against No. 14-ranked McDonogh and John Carroll and a one-hitter against Seneca Valley (Pa.). She struck out 16, 10 and 15, respectively. Then the junior took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning against defending Pennsylvania champion Chambersburg before losing on an error, 2-1. At the plate, she went 15-for-23 (.652) with four doubles, a triple and six RBIs. She also had three stolen bases and 10 runs scored. Cowen has a weighted 4.2 grade-point average.
