Mary Ellen Morse threw the first perfect game in the history of Mount de Sales softball, guiding the Sailors past John Carroll, 3-0, yesterday in the first round of the IAAM A Conference playoffs.

Morse, a junior, struck out six batters and allowed only two balls out of the infield.

"We really needed this win to get us back on track, with Spalding on Thursday," said coach Pete Waskiewicz.

Morse, who has recorded four shutouts on the year, has also thrown two two-hitters and two three-hitters. Her record stands at 6-4.

Megan Bahr, Gainey Mularkey and Erin Riggins contributed RBIs in the win.
