150 Years of Howard History

May 08, 2001

Howard County, which began July 4, 1851, as a western outpost of neighboring Anne Arundel County, is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

The Howard County edition of The Sun will publish a column on county history and the people who were part of it Tuesdays during the school year.

In this week's column, on Page 3B, an Elkridge man and his nephew recall life as farm tenants and how they attended Elkridge Colored School in the 1920s and 1930s.
