Two Baltimore men were charged yesterday in a fatal stabbing outside an Amoco station in the 4600 block of Edmondson Ave. - one of three killings in a day of violence in West and Northwest Baltimore.

Shortly after the 2:30 p.m. stabbing, security guards at the nearby Upland apartment complex heard a radio dispatch about the crime and saw two men race past them. Seven guards gave chase and eventually pinned the men to the ground until police arrived.

Emmett Barkley, 36, and Michael Talieferro, 38, were later charged with first-degree murder.

Police were withholding the name of the victim last night pending notification of relatives.

Earlier in the day, at about 2:45 a.m., a man was shot in the 1100 block of W. Baltimore St.; he was pronounced dead at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Late last night, police were trying to identify the victim, believed to be in his 30s.

Another fatal shooting occurred late in the afternoon on Baker Street near Woodyear Street. The victim's name was not available.

At about 10 p.m., police were called to the scene of a shooting in Wilton Heights in Northwest Baltimore. No further details were available.
