Grand opening for Art Place

May 06, 2001|By SLOANE BROWN

A faint whiff of fresh paint greeted the 650 visitors to Maryland Art Place's new home at 34 Market Place. But this aroma didn't come from new oil paintings. It came from the new paint on the wall, providing a perfect backdrop for MAP's "Grand Opening Celebration."

Guests explored each room, eyeing not only the space, but the creations of Maryland artists they found within. They stepped around large sculptures of rusted steel, screening and mirrors, examining all the angles. Adding to the visual feast, an array of friends were found around every corner at this festive open house.
