Scholarship singing

May 05, 2001|By Tim Smith

This weekend, the public is invited to hear Baltimore-area contestants in the Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition, which has been presented for two decades by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs to provide scholarships for young singers.

The winner of the local round, sponsored by the association's Baltimore City Club, will move on to the district level; district winners will participate in the final round in Las Vegas in July.

Three singers will be heard at 5:30 p.m. today at the Eubie Black Culture Center, 847 N. Howard St. Admission is free.
