Shayla Moore

Long Reach, track

Moore finished third at the Penn Relays and set a Howard County record by jumping 39 feet, 6 1/2 inches in the triple jump. Also competing in the long jump, 300 hurdles and 1,600 relay, she finished second in the state outdoor triple jump the past two seasons. Her coach, Joe Thomas, called it "a remarkable performance, the best that any athlete I've coached has done in an open event at Penn." Moore has a 3.9 grade-point average and scored 1,210 on the SAT, and is being recruited by Louisiana State, Ohio State and St. John's.
