Giants: Placed UT Felipe Crespo on DL with torn tendon in right foot. Recalled IF Edwards Guzman from Triple-A Fresno.

Mets: Placed P Al Leiter on the 15-day DL, retroactive to April 21, with strained left elbow. Recalled P Tom Martin from Triple-A Norfolk.


Capital Athletic Conference: Named Salisbury State G Pat Tewes men's lacrosse Player of the Year; Salisbury State's Andy Arnold Rookie of the Year; and Goucher's Kyle Hannan, Coach of the Year. Joining Tewes on all conference first team were Salisbury A Steve Brianas, M Josh Bergey, DM Dave DiPaola, D Jon Cline and D Mark Breier. They are joined by St. Mary's M Ryan Heacock and D Andrew Gerner. Named to second team were Goucher A Phil Anthony, M Qadir Stern and G Mike Amash. Also named to the second team were Salisbury M Rob Bookhamer and St. Mary's DM Brett Tiller and D Kevin Pollock.

Alabama: Freshman F Gerald Wallace made himself available for NBA draft but hasn't signed with an agent; he will return to school only if it appears he won't be a first-round pick.

Arkansas: Arkansas sophomore G-F Joe Johnson said he will enter NBA draft but won't sign with an agent so he would be able to withdraw name until June 20 without losing college eligibility.

Central Michigan: Extended contract of men's basketball coach Jay Smith through 2005.

Kansas: AD Bob Frederick resigned.
