Tigers update

Detroit went 4-6 against the Orioles last season, including 2-2 at its new ballpark. The Tigers are 18-38 against the Orioles the past four years and haven't won a season series since 1994. Ryan Kohlmeier's first major-league save came Aug. 7 at Comerica Park, but he's in danger of losing the closer's job. The Tigers are glad to miss Jose Mercedes, who was 3-0 with a 2.57 ERA against them last season. Delino DeShields batted .375 with nine RBIs. Melvin Mora batted .440. The Tigers have lost five in a row and are 2-6 at home, so the Orioles are visiting at the right time. Its roster no longer includes Juan Gonzalez, who is making an early push for league MVP with Cleveland. The catcher Detroit traded for, Mitch Meluskey, was lost for the season to an injury, making it wish it had kept Brad Ausmus. So far, the Tigers have a failing grade for their off-season moves.
