150 Years of Howard History

April 24, 2001

Howard County, which began July 4, 1851, as a western outpost of neighboring Anne Arundel County, is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

The Howard County edition of The Sun will publish a column on county history and the people who were part of it Tuesdays during the school year.

In this week's column, on Page 3B, an Ellicott City woman recalls life on her family's Lisbon farm in a letter to relatives who grew up too late to experience it.
