Nature center offering wildlife programs this month

Piney Run Nature Center is offering wildlife programs for all ages.

Chili Pontoon Tour for ages 12 and older will be offered from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 25. Participants will tour the lake with a naturalist in search of wildlife, then enjoy a bowl of chili. The cost is $8 for members and $10 for nonmembers.

Fairytale Basket workshop for ages 14 and older will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 26. Participants will make willow baskets decorated with dried everlastings, Spanish moss and ivy. All materials will be included. The cost is $15 for members and $17 for nonmembers.

Spring Coffeehouse for adults will be held from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. April 27. Doris and Dan Gallagher will entertain. Desserts and gourmet coffee will be served. The cost is $8 for members and $10 for nonmembers.

Reptiles and Amphibians of Carroll County for ages 12 and older will be offered at 2 p.m. April 28. Frank Groves, a herpetologist, will show how to identify reptiles and amphibians. He will show slides and discuss a countywide survey in which residents may participate. Live snakes will be displayed.

Sports complex offers ads, sponsorships

Carroll County Sports Complex offers inexpensive advertising and sponsor opportunities.

Included are banners to be displayed on the fields, ad space on the automated message board and sponsorships of events.

Sports complex plans softball tournaments

Carroll County Sports Complex will be host to softball tournaments this year.

The tournament schedule includes girls' fast-pitch teams and men's slow-pitch teams.
