Senior Nature Club plans hiking at Great Falls

Senior Nature Club will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster Senior Center.

The group will carpool to Great Falls for a hike.

Bring a lunch and beverage.

Workshop set for families of seniors under care

Carroll County Bureau of Aging will sponsor a Family Council Project workshop for family members of nursing home and assisted-living facility residents from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 28 at Westminster Senior Center.

The Family Council Project is a program of the National Citizens' Coalition of Nursing Home Reform, funded by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. It aims to educate and provide an outreach to families with members in nursing homes and assisted-living facilities.

A continental breakfast will be served. The workshop is free, but registration is required. Westminster Senior Center is at 125 Stoner Ave.

May 9 banquet theme is `Many Faces of Aging'

Older Americans Month's annual banquet will be held May 9 at Union Bridge Fire Hall.

This year's theme is "The Many Faces of Aging."

Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. for activities. An auction will be held at 10:30 a.m. A lunch of baked stuffed chicken breast and ham will be served at 11:45 a.m.

Entertainment will be by the Whippersnappers.

Tickets are $9 and must be purchased by May 1. No tickets will be sold at the door. Information: 410- 848-4049.

Support group meeting for adult caregivers

West End Place Adult Day Services will hold an adult caregivers support group meeting at 4 p.m. April 23.

A light supper will be served. Reservations are required by Friday.

Activities for senior citizens will be provided.

West End is at 7 Schoolhouse Ave. in Westminster.

Westminster Senior Center lists planned activities

Westminster Senior Center has announced activities:

Beginner's Line Dancing will be offered from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays for those age 60 and older. Classes are open to beginners or anyone needing to practice or review steps.

Golden Rocketts will perform at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The senior ladies will dance to show tunes, old-time rock 'n' roll and other popular music. The activity fee for the program is $3. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. for a donation of up to $3.11. Reservations are required by Tuesday.

The annual volunteer Awards Luncheon will be held April 26. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by the awards program at 12:45 p.m.

The menu will include fried chicken, green beans, mashed sweet potatoes, rolls and beverages. The cost of lunch is a donation up to $3.11 for those age 60 and older. Reservations are required by April 23.

The center is seeking volunteers to help with kitchen and dining room duties, reception desk staffing, the craft room and light maintenance. Individuals with computer experience are needed to design fliers and calendars. All ages are welcome. Contact Paul Garver.

Taneytown Senior Center lists April activities

Taneytown Senior Center will hold activities for its members.

Better Health Through Physical Education exercise class is being held at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays through June 28. The cost is $15 for 12 classes.

A Chinese buffet and birthday party will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

A bridge party will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 25.

A volunteer thank you lunch will be held at 11:30 a.m. April 27. The center will recognize its volunteers.

A SHARE program pick-up will be held April 27.

Reservations are required for programs.

Provider network meets on third Wednesdays

Senior Provider Information Network (SPIN) will meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster Senior Center.

SPIN is a group of individuals who work with senior citizens in a variety of ways, from the senior centers, retirement communities, nursing homes, health care and more.

North Carroll center announces activities

North Carroll Senior Center has announced activities:

Mammogram registration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

A new tai chi session will begin at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Senior Information and Assistance will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Site Council will meet at 10 a.m. April 23.

The monthly breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m. April 24. The menu includes scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and beverages. The requested contribution is $2. Reservations are required by Friday.

A discussion on "Using Humor as Medicine" will be given at 10:30 a.m.

A bingo bash will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 25. Play bingo for prizes in the morning and regular bingo in the afternoon.
