Mount Hebron's 54-game winning streak in girls lacrosse is now a 55-game non-losing streak.

The top-ranked Vikings scored the last two goals of the game - the final one by Melissa McCarthy with 6:11 remaining - and came away with a 9-9 tie yesterday at fifth-ranked Bryn Mawr.

The Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland, of which Bryn Mawr is a member, does not play overtime.

"I'm really happy about it. We worked really hard to get it," said Bryn Mawr freshman Molly Gilbert, who led the Mawrtians with four goals.

"I'm disappointed, but then again it could have gone either way," said Mount Hebron junior Stephanie Scurachio, who had five goals, including back-to-back scores that tied the game at seven with 15:32 to play. "Bryn Mawr is just as good as we are."

The Mawrtians (8-0-2) were better than Mount Hebron (4-0-1) yesterday in two critical areas: draws (12-6 advantage) and ground balls.

Still, Mount Hebron controlled the last five minutes when the Mawrtians failed to take a shot. Bryn Mawr sophomore goalie Angela Trusty stopped a free-position shot by Lindsay Dutch with 4:19 left and another attempt by Kristen Waagbo 19 seconds later.
