Woman charged with solicitation to commit murder

A Finksburg woman was arrested yesterday and charged with trying to hire someone to kill her former husband.

Constance Lee Etzler, 45, was arrested at her home in the 2100 block of Carrollton Road and charged with solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder, said Lt. Bud Frank, a state police spokesman. Frank said Etzler was being held without bond in the county Detention Center, pending a bail review hearing before a District Court commissioner.

According to Frank, the county state's attorney's office learned of a plot this month and contacted state police.

Troopers met with a former boyfriend of the accused, who told them that she had given him $1,500 in August to murder her former husband but that he did not follow through, Frank said.

Police arranged for the ex-boyfriend to meet with the woman. After several meetings, the plan was finalized and the woman gave him a down payment, Frank said.

Police obtained warrants yesterday and arrested the woman.

The former husband's identity was not disclosed and a motive was unknown.
