Child sex offenders in Harford on Net

April 12, 2001|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Harford County residents interested in tracking convicted child sex offenders in their communities can now identify them on the Internet with help from the sheriff's office.

Sheriff Joseph P. Meadows said the public is allowed access to basic criminal background information relating to child sex offenders. "Our Web site then becomes a valuable tool for us in getting the most accurate information disseminated quickly and more efficiently," Meadows said.

The site lists about 30 violators, with general background information such as addresses, and their arrest photos.

Those interested can log on to the Web site at www.harfordsheriff .org and click on the child sex offender registration page.

The agency will continue to process mail requests for the list. Both services are free. Information: 410-836-5450.
