Live long, prosper: Variety of seminars set for 55+ Expo

Seminars on a variety of health topics and estate planning are among the programs planned for the eighth annual 55+ Expo, to be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 22 in the Student Services Center at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold.

Exhibitor space at the expo -- sponsored by the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce and the county Department of Aging -- is available.

Anne Arundel Medical Center will present seminars called "Current Trends in Vascular Surgery" and "Diabetes `Get The Facts' - Your Questions Answered."

Chesapeake Hearing Centers Inc. will present two seminars, "Hearing Loss: Causes and Caring Solutions" and "Hearing Aids in 2001: From Disposable to Digital."

The law firm of SinclairProsser will present "Estate Planning with the Living Trust."

"Keys to Prospering after 50" also will be examined in an expo program.

Legal issues, crafts, hearing screening planned

Pasadena Senior Center will offer the following programs for seniors:

Social worker Joyce Allman of Mariner Health of Glen Burnie will discuss advance directives, medical power of attorney and living wills at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Instructor Evelyn Bacon will give a class on creating a cow planter made of various sizes of clay pots from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 18. An $8 fee for materials is required to sign up for the class.

Douglas Alberts of Beltone Hearing Aid Center will conduct free hearing screenings from 10 a.m. to noon April 18. He also willclean and adjust hearing aids, check batteries and answer questions.
