Winfield Fire Department schedules dinner Sunday

Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual spring fried chicken, roast beef and ham dinner starting at noon Sunday at the fire hall.

Food, which will be served family-style, includes salads, vegetables, rolls and beverage, until supplies are sold out.

A baked goods table will be available.

The cost is $9 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 12. Carryouts cost $10.50.

The fire hall is at 1320 W. Old Liberty Road.

La Leche League meets at Methodist church

La Leche League of Mount Airy meets twice a month to offer breastfeeding support and information to new mothers.

Meetings are held at 12:30 p.m. the second Wednesday and 10 a.m. the second Saturday of the month at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main St.

Pregnant women, babies and older children are welcome.

Messiah College senior is honored in lacrosse

Messiah College senior Jason Weisenborn of Mount Airy was recently named Mid-Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for the school's men's lacrosse team.

In one week, he scored eight goals and three assists during two victories. Weisenborn has 169 career goals along with 89 assists and has more than 250 career points.

Messiah is a four-year Christian college in Grantham, Pa.
