Orientation is Friday for outdoor walking, cycling and tennis

Pascal Senior Center in Glen Burnie will begin its outdoor exercise and sports activities at 8:30 a.m. Friday with orientation for Pascal Pacers walking and Pascal Pedalers cycling programs.

Walkers will meet on the back patio of the center at 125 Dorsey Road, where there will be refreshments and distribution of registration and mileage cards. Last year, about 40 walkers logged 3,215 miles.

Walkers will be using the trails at Sawmill Creek Park adjacent to the center, and will receive a map of the walking course. The trails are marked at one-half and one-mile intervals. The Pacers group, sponsored by North Arundel Hospital, meets at 8:30 a.m. weekdays at the center.

The cycling program, designed for older, active adults, will have a planning session at 8:30 a.m. Friday for discussion of future trips and programs.

The center's tennis club invites adults 55 and older to play on Fridays on reserved courts at Sawmill Creek Park. There is no formal instruction, but players are matched in pickup games beginning around 8:30 a.m.

Prospective participants are cautioned by the center to check with their physician before beginning any new fitness program.
