Eldersburg man accused in armed Super Fresh holdup

April 04, 2001

An Eldersburg man was being held yesterday in lieu of $7,500 bond after he was arrested in the armed robbery Monday of the Super Fresh store in Eldersburg. John Gregory Cavallo, 24, was charged with armed robbery and first- and second-degree assault, according to Maryland State Police.

Police said a man entered the store at Carrolltown Center about 3:45 p.m. Monday and displayed a weapon. Employees called police with a description of the man and his car, police said.

About 4:20 p.m., Howard County Police notified state police that a vehicle and man matching the description of the robber had been involved in an accident on U.S. 40 near U.S. 29. Troopers from Westminster responded and took Cavallo into custody, police said.
