Outlook: Hopkins bounced back strongly Saturday from a tough, 9-8 loss to Virginia in four overtimes. The Blue Jays handled North Carolina, 12-4, behind Bobby Benson's two goals and four assists and Conor Denihan's three goals. Benson, a sophomore attackman, now leads Hopkins in points with 14 (seven goals and seven assists). Freshman attackman Joe McDermott and Denihan are tied for second with nine points, and Conor Ford, Eric Wedin and Adam Doneger are all next with eight points. Sophomore goalkeeper Rob Scherr has a 7.09 goals-against average. The Blue Jays have won 24 consecutive games in April, and they have killed off 38 of the last 48 penalties. Villanova comes to town with former Hopkins standout Dave Marks serving as an assistant coach. Dave is the son of Villanova head coach Randy Marks and in 1998 Dave Marks was the third-leading scorer for Hopkins with 15 goals and 21 assists. Dave's brother, Brian, leads the Wildcats in goals and assists with 15 in each category. Brian Marx and Andrew Bogle each had five goals and three assists last Saturday in Villanova's 16-7 victory over Sacred Heart.
