Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Southwestern District

Carjacking/shooting: Lavain G. Scruggs, 31, was stopped at a traffic light at Bloomingdale Road and West North Avenue near Walbrook about 1:15 a.m. yesterday when two men, one with a handgun, forced their way into his 1992 Lexus and ordered him to drive. Several miles away in the 5800 block of Dale Road in the Mount Washington section of Northwest Baltimore, Scruggs stopped the car and was trying to flee when he was shot in the lower back. The robbers drove off. Scruggs was taken by ambulance to Sinai Hospital, where he was in good condition.

Southeastern District

Robbery: A woman, 68, was in the 200 block of S. Chester St. about 10 p.m. Sunday when a man shoved her aside and stole her purse containing her eyeglasses and other personal property.

Stabbing: A man stabbed another man, 37, in the back about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of Fleet St. The victim refused medical treatment and no arrest had been made.

Assault: Two teen-age males threatened to shoot a man, 29, about 4 a.m. Sunday when he asked them to "move on" and stop loitering in front of his house in the 3800 block of Foster Ave. One of the youths displayed a handgun.

Stolen vehicle: A green 1994 Plymouth van with tags DMC 498 was stolen Saturday in the 500 block of Dundalk Ave.

Western District

Drug arrest: Officers raided a house Saturday in the 1800 block of Moreland Ave., arrested a man, 23, and seized more than $5,000 and three pounds of marijuana with a street value of about $6,000. Charges against the man were pending.

Cutting: A man, 21, was in the 1900 block of W. North Ave. about 1 a.m. Saturday when he was stopped by two men who asked if he wanted to buy drugs. When he said he wasn't interested, one of the men pulled a knife and cut him on the right hand. He was treated at Bon Secours Hospital.

Northern District

Theft from vehicle: Someone broke into a 1989 Dodge minivan parked Sunday in the 2000 block of W. Rogers Ave. and stole a remote control model truck and $3 in coins -- all valued at $70.

Stolen vehicle: A two-door 1986 Pontiac with tags FPY 326 was stolen Sunday in the 5800 block of York Road.

Northwestern District

Burglary: Several range hoods and six emergency exit lights -- all valued at $500 -- were stolen from a storage room at Palmer Court Apartments in the 3000 block of Thorndale Ave. during the weekend.

Baltimore County

White Marsh Precinct

Arson: A 1988 Chevrolet Astrovan was found burning Sunday evening in the 7000 block of Rossville Blvd. An investigator with the county Fire Department ruled the fire an arson. No arrest had been made and a motive was unknown.

Essex Precinct

Robbery: A man, 31, was riding his bicycle on Back River Neck Road near Poles Road about 10:20 p.m. Sunday when two men, one with a handgun, robbed him of the bicycle -- valued at $100. The victim recognized one of the men, but no arrest had been made.

Garrison Precinct

Burglary: After entering the alarm system's numeric code, a thief entered Popeye's Chicken in the 10100 block of Reisterstown Road overnight Saturday and removed more than $3,000 from an office safe.

Burglary: Two antique tables of unknown value were stolen overnight Sunday from the front porch of a house in the 8900 block of Liberty Road.

Burglary: Sixty DVD movies, 150 compact discs and a small safe containing more than $500 were stolen from an apartment in the first block of Brubar Court overnight Sunday.
