Police investigate death of 2-month-old

April 01, 2001|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Howard County police were investigating the death Friday morning of a 2-month-old Columbia girl.

Officers and emergency workers were called to the baby's home in a lower-level apartment in the 8800 block of Tamar Drive about 8:45 a.m. after a report that the infant was not breathing, police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn said.

The baby, Jasmine Grabowski, was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Llewellyn said.

Police routinely investigate the death of any infant as "suspicious," Llewellyn said, "until something proves otherwise."

An autopsy will be performed in the next few days, she said.

Jasmine lived in the Bentana Apartments complex with her mother, 3-year-old sister and possibly other adults, Llewellyn said.
