Police seek driver of vehicle that struck Cockeysville boy

COCKEYSVILLE - Baltimore County police are searching for the driver of a small truck, van or sport utility vehicle that hit and critically injured a 15-year-old Cockeysville boy early yesterday in the 400 block of Warren Road.

Police said Ramon Thomas, who lives in the block where he was hit, was walking on the right-hand shoulder of Warren Road just after 2:15 a.m. yesterday when the vehicle hit him and kept going.

Police said the vehicle might have light damage to the right front or side. Ramon was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital's pediatric ward, where he was in critical condition. Anyone with information can call 410-887-2198.

Pregnant woman reported missing in Owings Mills

TOWSON - Baltimore County police are searching for a pregnant Randallstown woman reported missing since late Friday night.

Candace Ashley Young, 18, of the first block of Spyce Mill Court, called her mother for a ride from Owings Mills Mall around 11 p.m. Friday, police said. Young was not there when her mother arrived 15 minutes later.

She is described as a black female, 5 feet tall, with medium-length black hair. She was last seen wearing a tan jacket, pink shirt and blue jeans. Police ask anyone with information to call 410-887-1570 or 410-887-2198.

In Baltimore City

Southeast streets to be closed for parade

The Greek Independence Day Parade starting at 2 p.m. today at Eastern Avenue and Haven Street will force several street closures, Department of Public Works officials said.

Eastern Avenue from Haven to Ponca streets will close from noon to 4 p.m., and Ponca Street from Eastern Avenue to Hudson Street will close from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

No parking will be allowed from noon to 4 p.m. on Eastern Avenue from Haven Street to Ponca Street, or on Ponca Street from Eastern Avenue to Fait Avenue.

Police search for man charged in fatal shooting

Police are seeking a Baltimore man charged in the killing of Antoine Smith near his Thomas Avenue home Friday.

Agent Martin Bartness said Iran Gerard Stokes, 26, of the 1200 block of Madison St. is being sought on first-degree murder charges in the fatal shooting of Smith, 25, who lived in the 1800 block of Thomas Ave.

Smith was shot several times in the chest after witnesses saw him fighting with another man.

In Carroll County

Union Bridge man charged after seven-hour standoff

UNION BRIDGE - A Union Bridge man was charged with assault last night after a seven-hour standoff at his home.

Michael K. Voland, 41, of the 1300 block of Baust Church Road, is expected to appear before a District Court commissioner for a bail hearing today. State police were called to his home about 3 p.m., said Maj. Greg Shipley, a state police spokesman, where Voland's wife told police she had fled the house after being threatened during an argument. She told police their 4-year-old son was inside and that firearms were in the house.

Police sealed off the road and attempted to make telephone contact with the house. The standoff ended peacefully just after 10:30 p.m., Shipley said.
