Hopkins women win in OT

With 11 seconds left in the first sudden-death overtime period, Jamie Larrimore of Chestertown netted the game-winner and completed her hat trick to lift No. 17 Johns Hopkins over host Brown, 12-11, in women's college lacrosse in Providence, R.I. yesterday.

Larrimore scored the second goal of each half. She tied the score at 1 with 26:56 left in the first half and extended the Blue Jays' lead 8-5 with 19:13 left in the game.

Meghan Burnett and Erin Wellner each scored twice in the opening half as Johns Hopkins (5-2) took a 7-4 halftime lead.

Brown went on a 4-0, second-half scoring run, and Marguerite McDonald gave the Bears (1-3) the lead, 9-8. Hopkins scored twice before McDonald scored again to send the game into overtime.

Hopkins' Marlena Wittelsberger and Brown's Lauren Brunswick traded goals in the first overtime to force the sudden-death overtime.

Brown's Niki Caggiano finished with 19 saves, 12 more than Hopkins' Jen McDonald.
