Calvert Hall prevails on Kyle no-hitter

Right-hander Matt Kyle (2-0) pitched a seven-inning no-hitter as the visiting Calvert Hall baseball team (3-0) blanked McDonogh, 7-0, in Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference baseball action yesterday.

Kyle struck out six and walked four, and teammate Mike Santmyer hit his second grand slam in two games.

The home run sparked a six-run second inning for the Cardinals (3-0).

Softball

Chapelgate 15, St. John's-PH 0: Right-handed winner Hope Meisinger pitched a five-inning no-hitter, giving up four walks and striking out eight for the host Flames (2-0). Meisinger also led the offense going 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
