Salisbury edges Williams, 12-11

Midfielders Chris Lauer and Josh Bergey netted goals in the final 2:17 to break a 10-10 tie and lift Salisbury State over Williams, 12-11, in a nonconference men's lacrosse game yesterday in Port Richey, Fla.

The Sea Gulls (8-0) won their fourth one-goal game of the season while staying unbeaten.

Trailing 4-1 after one quarter, the Sea Gulls tied the game 7-7 at halftime. The score was knotted at 9-9 at the end of the third quarter and tied again at 10 with six minutes remaining. Lauer then netted his third of the day, unassisted, at 2:17, to put Salisbury ahead, and Bergey added a man-up score at 1:40 to give the Sea Gulls a two-goal cushion. The Ephs (0-1) scored 14 seconds later to pull back to within one, but could not forge another tie.

Bowdoin 19, Western Maryland 16: The Polar Bears jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first quarter and went on to defeat the Green Terror in a nonconference game in Port Richey, Fla.

Joe Ellis led Western Maryland with five goals and three assists. Dave Riley and Tom Brown also added three goals apiece.
