Blaze near Westminster injures 2 firefighters

March 18, 2001

Two Carroll County firefighters were injured while battling a blaze that destroyed a house on Spring Mills Road south of Westminster early Friday, authorities said. The occupants were not home.

One firefighter suffered minor burns and another was injured when a wall collapsed on him during salvage operations, authorities said.

Both were treated at Carroll County General Hospital in Westminster, officials said.

Authorities have not determined the cause of the blaze, which originated in a rear bedroom and was reported by neighbors about 4:15 a.m. The house was owned by Westminster attorney Judith Stainbrook, officials said.
