Laurel teen-ager jumps to his death from I-95 overpass

A Prince George's County teen-ager jumped to his death from Brooklyn Bridge Road over Interstate 95 in Laurel during yesterday's evening rush hour, state police said.

According to witnesses, the 17-year-old Laurel resident climbed onto the fence of the overpass about 6 p.m. and jumped, police said. He landed in the northbound lanes of I-95 but was not struck by any vehicles, police said. The victim, whose name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at Laurel Regional Hospital.

The incident is being investigated.
