COLLEGE PARK -- Forward Pele Paelay scored 18 points and guard Isaiah Swann added 15, including four during a game-ending 17-4 run that propelled Magruder to a 70-58 win over second-ranked Eleanor Roosevelt last night in the Class 4A state boys basketball final before an estimated 10,500 at Cole Field House.

Trailing 54-53 with 3:20 left, Magruder, Washington's top-ranked team, gained command by holding Roosevelt to two field goals in the final 3:19, while hitting their final 12 foul shots.

The Montgomery County team, which gave up a sizable height advantage, shot 51 percent for the game, including 58 percent in the second half.

The Colonels (27-0) completed an undefeated season, recording their first state title in school history.

Forward DeLonte West led Roosevelt with 22 points and eight rebounds, but the Raiders (23-3) hit just one of 10 three-pointers and 15 of 28 foul shots.
