Tutors Needed

Area schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills, and to assist in related projects. Among them:

Maiden Choice School, 4901 Shelbourne Road, Arbutus, a special education school, needs volunteers to read to students while they receive tube feedings and medications in the health suite each day, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers can sign up for 30 minutes or more per day. The Enoch Pratt Free Library, 400 Cathedral St., Baltimore, needs volunteers to work in the Student Express area tutoring middle- and high-school students in reading and math. Tutors are needed Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Contact: Marion Hirsch, volunteer services, 410-396-9940.
