YOU MIGHT WALK away from a meeting on a cold winter night next week with more than just dreams of a summertime outing on a fishing boat.

At its monthly meeting Monday, the Pasadena Sportfishing Group is expected to draw six winners for a Fourth of July outing. The drawing is an incentive to participate in its annual spring Snag a Bag collection in support of the Harvest for the Hungry program.

Those attending the meeting are expected to turn in canned food or cash donations. Membership in the group is free and open to anglers of all ages.

The club's leader, George Bentz, said all donations are greatly appreciated, especially monetary donations for the annual statewide drive. "The money is used for the home heating fund and to provide fuel for the food bank's delivery trucks," he said.

The club will give six donors a chance to win a fishing trip aboard the boat of Rich Dobry, the club's Snag a Bag chairman. The winners will be drawn at the end of the meeting, which will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Earleigh Heights fire hall on Ritchie Highway.

Hank Devito, captain of the Afternoon Delight charter boat, will speak, offering tips and techniques for trolling for trophy rockfish. "Hank's topic should be of special interest to local fishermen, with the spring trophy rockfish season beginning in the next few weeks," Bentz said.

Food and drink will be sold starting at 6:30 p.m.
