Candidates sought in Wilde Lake for village board, Columbia Council

The Wilde Lake Community Association is seeking candidates for five seats on the village board and one seat on the Columbia Council.

Positions are for a one-year term, beginning May 1. Nominations will be accepted through March 16. Nomination packets are available at Slayton House in Wilde Lake Village Green.

Women's health subject of Town Center programs

The Town Center Community Association and Historic Oakland will present Women's Night Out - three programs on women's health and nurturing - from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 16, 23 and 30 at Historic Oakland, 5430 Vantage Point Road.

Courtney Carpenter, of David's Natural Market, will discuss homeopathic remedies, herbs and healing March 16. Dr. Marion Smith-Waison will discuss women's health March 23, and Latin line dancing and mini-sessions on skin care, massage, reflexology and self-defense are scheduled March 30.

The cost is $7.50 a session; $15 for the series.

Painting classes offered by artist for children

Artist Shari Pierce will offer a painting class for children ages 4 and 5, "Painting Purple Cows and Clouds," from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, from next week through April 26 at Slayton House in Wilde Lake Village Green. The cost is $42 for the six-week class. Materials cost $4. Registration is required.

A six-week Latin dance class, with Heather Charles, will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, beginning next week. The cost is $60. Registration is required.
