Israeli embassy official will speak tonight at Western Md. College

Moshe Fox of the Embassy of Israel will discuss Israeli-Arab and Israeli-U.S. relations at 8 p.m. today in McDaniel Lounge at Western Maryland College.

He replaces Israeli Ambassador David Ivry, who is in Israel on business.

Fox, minister of public affairs, is a career diplomat who has served in numerous positions in Washington and Israel. He was director of the North American Division in Israel and a senior member of the policy planning staff.

He also was consul of information and spokesman to the consulate general of Israel to the Midwest, and was an assistant to ambassadors in the embassy.

The lecture, free to the public, is the second in a series established in 1999 by Alvin and Elaine Mintzes to honor their friends Alleck A. and Harriet S. Resnick. Information: 410-857-2290.

Human relations panel will hold awards dinner

Carroll County Human Relations Commission will hold its ninth awards dinner at 6:30 p.m. March 21 at New Windsor Conference Center, 500 Main St.

The speaker will be the Rev. Bernard Keels.

Recipients of the 2001 Carroll County Human Relations Award will be Sylvia Cannon, former director of Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc., and Gregory Eckles, director of secondary schools in the county.

The cost of the dinner is $18. Reservation deadline is Monday.
