Pasta sauces don't compare to restaurant fare

Nutritional content: Vodka Sauce - 60 calories, 3.5 grams fat, 2 grams saturated fat, 290 milligrams sodium; Mushroom Alfredo - 60 calories, 4 grams fat, 1.5 grams saturated fat, 480 milligrams sodium

Preparation time: Simmer over low heat and serve

Review: If you're a regular reader of this column, you know we've tested a lot of pasta sauces. We've seen jarred sauces improve in taste as well as appearance. Unfortunately, these two from Francesco Rinaldi don't follow that trend. The Vodka Sauce was not nearly as fresh as similar sauces we've tested, although it did have accurate vodka undertones. The Mushroom Alfredo sauce was extremely salty, and just awful. According to the company this new line is supposed to offer "classic restaurant taste." If you're looking for that, make reservations in Little Italy.
